When I started out as a Naturopathic Herbalist, I began to worry that people would call me ‘The Water Doctor’ followed closely by ‘The Sleep Doctor’, since I would repeat advice on water and sleep so often. I have often seen patients struggle with water and dehydration for over a year before they get it. Seeing people struggle with water intake and dehydration motivated me to provide some podcast and blog resources that would help shorten the time people have to wrestle with a lifestyle change which is so simple yet difficult to implement.
Here are a few symptoms which we rarely ever connect to dehydration:
- Restless leg syndrome – the name says it all;
- Postural hypotension – this is when on stand or rising from bed dizziness occurs;
- Hay Fever;
- Racing heart beats;
- Some forms of depression.
What is amazing about working out whether dehydration plays a part to these symptoms is that all we have to do is raise our water intake to see what happens. It is that simple. If you have any of these conditions or a condition in which you suspect dehydration plays a part, then just hydrate.
